David Joseph

SLC Chairperson

Greetings in the name of our Lord! I’m David, a proud native of the beautiful English-speaking country of Guyana, nestled on the furthest north coast of South America. My journey in faith has been deeply intertwined with the life of Old Town Community Church (OTCC), where my family and I have been devoted members for the past 24 years.

Ministry Involvement: For the last 18 years, my wife and I have joyfully dedicated ourselves to nurturing the spiritual growth of our youngest members, serving as teachers for pre-school and 1st through 3rd grade Sunday School. Additionally, I co-lead engaging and insightful adult Bible Study classes, fostering a deeper understanding of God’s word among our congregation.

Service and Leadership Roles: Throughout my 24 years at OTCC, I’ve had the privilege of wearing various lay-leadership hats in service to the church community. From extending warm greetings as a greeter to fulfilling the responsibilities of a deacon, each role has been a stepping stone in my spiritual journey. Presently, I am honored to serve as the chair of the Servant Leadership Council (SLC), a role that allows me to contribute to the spiritual guidance and growth of our church.

Community Engagement: Beyond the church walls, I am actively involved in broader community initiatives. As a member of “The Common Good” board, I am dedicated to promoting the well-being of our local community and Not-for-Profit organizations. Additionally, I proudly represent OTCC as an ambassador for the “Church of South Washington Street” (COSW), strengthening the ties between our four churches (OTCC, Beulah Baptist, Roberts Memorial UMC and Washington Street UMC) and the larger community.

Heartfelt Connection to OTCC: OTCC holds a special place in my heart. The love and affection shared by everyone within the community, coupled with the impactful missions and Bible teaching ministries, have profoundly shaped my spiritual journey. It is a joy and privilege to be part of a community that radiates God’s love in such meaningful ways.
