Advent with Old Town Kids

A note from Sarah about this year’s Advent materials:

Dear families,

In choosing a resource to share with you this Advent season, I’ve been thinking about how Christmas activities often fall into one of two categories: it can feel like there are the things we do that are clearly related to the birth of Christ, and then there’s everything else. And this can lead, I think, to the fun of Christmas being disconnected from the meaning of Christmas.

But what if we looked at each and every one of our Christmas traditions and saw in them valuable connection to the birth of Jesus? What if as we trim the Christmas tree or bake Christmas cookies or look at Christmas lights we remembered and experienced God’s great love for the world?

And then I found this Advent + 12 Days of Christmas resource from Little Way Chapel. This guide offers daily activities, reflections, prayers, and other resources to help your family embrace this season, connecting the secular to the sacred and offering a reminder that Jesus can be – and is – in the midst of everything we do. I’m so excited to share this guide with you and walk through it together.

You can pick up your copy at the back of our sanctuary or in our children’s area. If you aren’t attending in person, please fill out the form here to request a copy sent to you.

Thanks for joining us this Advent season.

Warmly,

Sarah
