Get Connected to a Table Group

Table groups at OTCC are a place to get to know others and be known by them. Participants in table group grow as they care for one another, pray for one another, and discuss the “big idea” from Sunday’s message.

What is the purpose of table groups?

Know– Know others and be known by them. Care for one another through prayer, wrestling through life’s lows, celebrating life’s highs, and discerning together the ways God may be calling you to live on mission where you live, work, and play. We were not meant to do life alone, and we believe the table is a great place to share the ups and downs of life with others.

Grow- Grow in your relationship with Jesus and go deeper in understanding your role in His work in the world through discussion around where you see God at work in your life, practical application of scripture, and prayer.

Why “table groups”?

The table is a focal point of Jesus’s ministry and is a profound symbol of how “on Earth as it is in Heaven” should look practically in our lives. When we approach the table for communion, we are reminded that because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, forgiveness and redemption are extended to all who put their faith in him. Jesus often shared his most important ministry moments around the table with his disciples and those who by societies standards, shouldn’t have been invited to the table. Woven throughout his teachings, Jesus often describes the end of time as a great banquet table which reminds us not only of the lavish blessings of God, but also that the invitation to God’s table is extended to all.

The table symbolizes a space of belonging, where diverse individuals gather as equals. It serves as a setting for spiritual growth, where stories are shared, and lives are transformed through community and discussing God’s Word. Additionally, the table embodies generosity and service, as Jesus often broke bread with those marginalized by society, demonstrating that true discipleship involves compassion and outreach to others. This sacred space fosters community, encourages personal transformation, and inspires acts of love and service.

Where do table groups meet?

Our table groups meet generally geographically, with the hope of connecting people more deeply to their neighborhood contexts. Many of our table groups meet in homes, but some meet in parks. We’ve had table groups meet in local restaurants, too! Our staff will help you find a table group that’s convenient for you.

When do table groups meet?

Currently, each table group sets its own frequency. Some table groups meet once a month, some meet every other week, and some table groups meet weekly. Some of our table groups take a hybrid approach and meet in-person some of the time and virtually some of the time. Beginning in September 2025, most of our table groups will move to a bi-monthly frequency.

Generally speaking, table groups meet on a weeknight. Many of our table groups also get together at other times for community events and social gatherings. If you are interested in joining a table group, we’d love to help you connect with a group that works for your schedule.
