Ways to Volunteer with OTCC
Open Table | Every Wednesday at 6:00 a.m.
We serve hot breakfast and lunch to go to anyone who needs it from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays in our Fellowship Hall. Volunteers are welcome to help prepare and serve on Wednesdays between 5:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. E-mail Brian at bhoysa@oldtown.cc to volunteer or to learn more.
Carpenter’s Shelter | 2nd Saturdays
OTCC volunteers provide dinner for Carpenter’s Shelter residents on the second Saturday of each month. This is a great volunteering opportunity for Bible study groups, table groups, families, or neighbors to serve together. The time commitment is from 5:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. Food can be prepared at the shelter in their new kitchen, at home and brought in, or picked up from somewhere and brought in to serve. Roughly 50 people will be served.
Sign up below and you’ll be contacted a week in advance with further details. We will provide sample menus and suggested items to prepare or purchase for first-time volunteers. All costs incurred purchasing food for these dinners will be reimbursed by OTCC.

Third Wednesdays Pop-Up Pantry
On the third Wednesday of every month we host a pop-up food pantry in collaboration with ALIVE!
This is open from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., allowing guests at our regularly scheduled breakfast to visit the pantry, along with others in the community who need food.
To help with the third Wednesday food pantry, contact Brian (bhoysa@oldtown.cc).
The Seaport Foundation | 1st and 3rd Mondays
The Seaport Foundation apprentice program provides hands-on training and mentoring for disconnected young adults ages 18-23 who need to redirect their lives. Their building is located on the Potomac River in Old Town off of Founders Park. Many apprentices come to the program hungry. To encourage the effort and support their good work, OTCC will bring lunch on the first and third Mondays. All food purchases will be reimbursed by OTCC.
Sign up to provide lunch for 10 people, click here and Pastor Brian will contact you to confirm and share more details. By signing up you are committing to prepare or pick up food that you will take to the Seaport workshop between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the Monday you select.
Other Mission Opportunities
There are other mission opportunities throughout the year. One such example is the Thanksgiving Meal Initiative with the Church on South Washington. These larger mission initiatives will be communicated in the E-News and in worship as well as on our website’s Events page.
